Purepage Server
4.0 User Guide
Configuring File Type Support
Purepage Server can render over 200 different file and document formats into HTML.
Each rendition consists of two separate steps. Firstly, Purepage Server will print the
document to the Purepage printer. Once the document is printed to the Purepage
printer, Purepage Server then renders the print job into HTML. Also, for specific file
types such as Microsoft Word and Excel, Purepage Server performs an extra step to
extract additional document information such as hyperlinks and tables of contents.
For each file type you wish Purepage Server to render into HTML you need to:
1.
Configure which application to use to print files of this type. Generally, this is the
original application e.g. MS Word for an MS Word document but, for example,
you may wish to use MS Word to also handle your Lotus Word files. To open the
File Types Manager, select "Manage File Types" from the "Tools" menu or click
the "Manage File Types" button.
2.
Install the application required to print this file type. For example, to print
Microsoft Word documents, you would need to install an application capable of
printing Microsoft Word documents, usually this would be Microsoft Word itself
but other applications such as QuickView Plus can be used. See below for further
information of installing applications to print file types.
